Dainik Jagran: Malwan peda and a reported Italy order

Dainik Jagran published “Fatehpur’s Malwan peda gains a global identity, a large order from Italy” on 6 October 2026. The byline is Govind Dubey, edited by Sachin Sharma. The screenshot supplied here shows a later update line of 8 October 2026.

The paper’s own highlights say three things: an order from Italy at the Noida trade show; that export would start after the peda met international food standards; and that a GI tag was hoped for soon. A hope in a headline is not a granted tag. Sohan Peda is not described on this site as GI-tagged.

The report says the granular peda was liked, that sales at the five-day trade show were more than Rs 6 lakh, and that an order for 200 kg came from an Italian company. The Times of India report of 2 October 2026 names that company as Domenico Percoco and says the Rs 6 lakh figure covered three Malwan peda traders together. This website does not treat the combined figure as Sohan Peda’s own sales, and it does not ship outside India.

The report quotes Sohanlal Gupta as saying that international food standards had been met, and that export would start from Diwali once a packing machine arrived from Germany. That is the paper’s report of a plan. It is not a statement that parcels from this shop are going to Italy.

The report also gives a 1960s account of a tea stall and of Mohanlal Gupta. This website does not use that account as the Sohan Peda family record. The family account published here remains the one dated to about 1970.
